Component Description#
The coupon section is mandatory if you want to promote coupon codes. Studies found that when customers receive a promo code their level of oxytocin actually increases. Irrespective of if a customer is completing their first purchase via your site or if he/she is a heavy user a small incentive like a 10% off or free shipping can improve the shopping experience directly.
For users to be successful using promotions, a website must do two things well:
(1) it must communicate these various promotions effectively throughout the site, and…
(2) it must also make it easy for users to get the deals being communicated.
Use following techniques to safe users time:
- Display all offers within the body of the shopping cart page.
- Display and allow users to apply discounts directly by interacting with sitewide banners promoting the offer.
- Let users browse offers within the shopping cart.
- Or, simply apply any applicable codes to the cart for them.

- Avoid headlines that only contain one word or are too vague to understand the content.

- Allow users to interact with discount advertisements to have them automatically applied to their cart.
- Coupons should not be (linked) images, but text. So that the coupon code can easily be copied and users do not need to memorize it and apply it in the cart.
